New Flies 2009

The heart and soul of Blue Ribbon Flies has always been flies.  We've spent more time designing, debating about, and experimenting with flies than anything else here in the shop.  There is always a new group of experimental flies in the works.  For years we've been lucky to be surrounded by an incredibly creative group of fly tiers who have come up with effective patterns like the Sparkle Dun, X Caddis, Iris Caddis, and the list goes on...

These are the flies that made it to the top of the class for 2009.  Fish them with confidence and know the selection passed numerous on and off stream tests.

Fly Of The Month Club $ 49.99
We've started our very own Fly of the Month Club. When you add this to the shopping cart you will receive the new 2009 tying instructions. Each month after we will send you a new cutting-edge BRF fly, instructions and materials list for that fly. That's 11 flies and 17 sets of tying instructions over 12 months. Even if you sign up in June you will still receive the entire years worth of flies and instructions.

6X Emerger $ 2.25
This is an old, unjustly forgotten pattern we are bringing back for 2009. Clayton Molinero, or CP as we called him, loved to fish the fall Baetis hatch on the Firehole River. He showed us this fly years ago.

CDC Egg-Laying Caddis $ 2.25
Craig worked hard on this pattern last summer. He wanted to find the right mix of materials to create “The” perfect egg-laying caddis. After spending numerous hours testing variations of this fly he finally got the results he was looking for.

CDC Baetis Spinner $ 2.25
Every year we see great Baetis spinner falls, and the fish love them. We never seem to catch as many fish during a spinner fall as other times, regardless of what pattern we present, because imitating the oh-so-delicate fall and drift of natural spinners is next to impossible. Keeping your fly high, dry, and visible enough to prevent drag has always been the biggest challenge. Until now

Epeorus Nymph $ 2.25
The Epeorus is the most important mayfly emergence on the Madison River below Quake Lake. The nymphs are clingers, hanging tightly to the bottom of rocks in the heaviest flows of the river. As they migrate into shore to emerge, they become available to trout from mid-June thru mid-August. This nymph works its magic the same way, from the heaviest currents into the banks
